Description and Comments:
safe by Unger, sterling, The Syrene motif

This match safe was made by Unger Bros. of Newark, NJ.
The front features "The Syrene" motif, the back is plain with engraved
initials a name lightly engraved on the lid. It is featured in the 1904
Unger catalog as #2590. The bezel is marked "Sterling, 925 Fine" plus
it has the Unger maker's mark. It measures 2 5/8 x 1 3/4" with the
striker on the bottom edge . The front of the safe is in excellent
condition, but their is denting on the back and corners, a small tear in the
upper corner near the hinge and a small seam split near the lid. It is
also missing the tension spring. The hinge works well. The front displays
well but the back needs some restoration work as can be seen in the
 photos.
