Hidden photo match safe by Battin, sterling

This is a hidden photo match safe that was made by Battin & Co., Newark, NJ, c. 1899. The  bezel is marked "sterling", below the photo is marked "Pat Jan 10, 1899" and conforms to patent #617,525. It has a gold interior wash to protect the sterling from the harm chemicals found in early matches. There is a small button below the cartouche that releases the cover over the hidden photo. The match safe measures 2 5/8 x 1 1/2" with the striker on the bottom edge. Condition is excellent. Will ship worldwide. PayPal, check or money order accepted.
